On 12 July 2005 the Downtown Seattle Association (DSA) had its architects work from the specifications of the contract for the new monorail and came up with some renderings of what they thought the monorail structure would look like Downtown. One of the drawings, looking north on Second Avenue, is shown here:

Rendering courtesy of Cascadia Monorail Company I have not manipulated the images with the sole exception of reducing the size of the Cascadia image to the same size as the DSA image, for purposes of fitting on the web page and also for a fairer comparison. I did not change the color or brightness of the images. Note that the brightness is approximately the same on the buildings, indicating the DSA image depicts the monorail structure much darker. I also had nothing to do with the disappearance of the red car! Actually all the parked cars disappeared. It appears that in the Cascadia image the bicycle lane has been relocated next to the curb, eliminating the parking, so maybe all the cars were towed away. Those two people on the sidewalk must have had an extremely long conversation! For more renderings, you can go to the corresponding web sites: Downtown Seattle Association Cascadia Monorail Company |
